EDUCATION:


Mike received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Kansas. During law school he interned in Wichita at the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office. He also studied under late United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia as part of a summer study abroad program in Istanbul, Turkey.


​​PROFESSIONAL CAREER:


​After graduating from law school, Mike began working as an Assistant District Attorney at the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office. He then moved to Kansas City, Kansas to become an Assistant District Attorney in the Wyandotte County District Attorney's Office. As an Assistant District Attorney, Mike handled many felony jury trials, was assigned to mentor younger prosecutors and testified before members of the Kansas Legislature as an expert in criminal prosecution.


​In 2011, Mike started his own practice in downtown Kansas City, Kansas focusing on criminal defense, family law and personal injury and since then has been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers. He handles everything from DUIs to Murder cases and he is not afraid to go to trial. Mike has won not guilty verdicts for clients charged with Murder, Involuntary Manslaughter, Kidnapping, Burglary and many other types of criminal charges and is regularly asked to teach seminars about criminal defense.


​Mike also has extensive experience in family law matters including divorce, child custody, child support and paternity cases. He is able to help his clients make sense of what can be the most challenging time in their lives and has been successful in helping many parents protect their children from dangerous situations. He is qualified as a Guardian ad Litem pursuant to Kansas Supreme Court Rule 110A and is often appointed to investigate and make recommendations to assist the judge in difficult cases.  


OTHER INTERESTS:


Mike has served on the Board of the Wyandotte County Bar Association and currently serves on the Wyandotte County Bench-Bar Committee, the Wyandotte County Juvenile Corrections Advisory Board and the Wyandotte County Leadership 2000 Board of Directors.
